Daughter of the Khan

Nooshafarin was supposed to be a boy. The eldest daughter of the Khan of the Qaradagh mountains, Nooshy grew up with a freedom typically only afforded to sons. She rides, she hunts, and she is certain she will be able to choose her own future. But when revolution starts to sweep the country, her father decides the only way to keep his beloved daughter safe is to arrange her marriage.

Dragged to their estate in the city of Tabriz and forced to endure an endless line of suitors she despises, Nooshy fears being caged into a life she dreads. But she will not submit quietly. Sneaking out and joining the revolution that aims to replace the absolute power of the Shah with a parliament and constitution, she meets Hasan, a musician turned revolutionary who tempts her with love. When Nooshy loses Hasan into enemy hands and the revolution falters, she must decide between loyalty to her family, her love for Hasan, and the cause - all of which may demand her freedom as the ultimate price of success.
